Japan, for all its modernity and hi-tec does show some a lot of low-tec and almost disdain for modernity!
All kinds of aerial cables, be they for electricity or telephone are still to be found interfering with the sky in Shizuoka City which count no less than 800,000 souls!
I noticed the sky through the bay window of my living room late in the afternoon as I was working on my lap top!
With a bit of research this could become an interesting theme: Japan Urban Skies!

Sunsets marred by black cables… ah! Japan – never change!

Here’s something to help you see the funny side. One of my former co-workers was a 203cm man from Wisconsin. Japan simply wasn’t made for a man of that height. Seriously, the amount of times he would almost bump into one of those cables while going over a crosswalk was just funny (if it wasn’t for the possibility of being electrocuted). I remember the ones where I lived in Saitama didn’t really clear over my head too much, and I’m not very tall, just 5′ 8″!

LOL!
I’m lucky, I’m only just under 5’6″!
