Food Humour/Food Humor

INDECENT BANANA

My good friend, Bernard Heberle, who has been elected the best patissier in Shizuoka Prefecture in 2011 seems to have some time on his hands despite the mountain of work. An amateur of food humor, he regularly sends me photos featuring some pretty/nasty art on food.
I thought it would be a shame not to feature them from time to time to add a light note/seasoning to this blog!

The pear and strawberry ladies are going to get me arrested for pubishing that picture…

ACID MILK!

A few years ago we used to see those big ads in Japan for “Homo Milk” standing for “Homogeneous Milk”. That is, until someone pointed out this might mislead some people into the wrong conclusions…

I found this truck in front of a kindergarten this morning on the way to my classroom.
After some investigation I found out (with the help of my Japanese student), that yoghurt is also called fermented milk in Japanese!
Acid Milk simply stands for Yoghurt!
Even so, it might be a good idea (but I suppose it is too late!) to think of a change of name, unless some people (again!) think of an even worse possibility! LOL

INDECENT TOMATO?

I’m bound to be for a lot of flak from Bazooka Gourmet with this one! LOL
Rainy Sunday today, and the Missus before going to work asked me to prepare some ratatouille for dinner.
I still needed quite a few ingredients vefore starting cooking and went to the neighbourhood supermarket.

I noticed some locally grown organic tomatoes sold in a small bunches.

They looked and felt pretty ripe (BG, keep quiet!), just perfect for the ratatouille.

When I opened the vynil bag they were wrapped in at home I discovered two “siamese twins” in a very peculiar arrangement.
I just couldn’t help taking pics before “separating” them for cooking!
I don’t really know how to call them; indecent? Sensuous? Pervert?…

I’m sur BG will come with something!

Daikon Couple: The Pious and The Pervert…

Just found this odd couple lying on the kitchen floor lying in unknowing bliss before being chopped into stew!
They had come form the Missus’ parents farm.

Now, why did the Missus trim that appendage?

MARINE CHOIR?

No, they are not singing!

I found those deep-fried “hata-hata”/Japanese sandfish outside a Japanese restaurant in Numazu City harbor!

PERVERT DAIKON?

pervert-daikon

My usually prudish half turned up triumphantly with this strange daikon grown in her parents’ garden!

I didn’t know where to start cutting it…

In the end I saw gradually disappearing as I grated the whole for a “daikon-nabe”!

Japanese Viper Sake/Mamushi Sake: A Drink for Sex?

mamushi

Last Tuesday night I had to go to the lavatory in a fairly busy and popular izakaya (sorry, I won’t tell you the name!) in Shizuoka City.
The “Mens” and “Ladies” were separate (important deatil!).
I found this “notice” pinned on the wall at eye-level.
The notice says:
“Genki no nai Otoko ha mamushi sake!”/Viper Sake for people (men) not feeling enrgetic!”
This is real sake in which a snake was marinated!
The note says above that you should be careful not too drink too much, or you will suffer from nosebleed (Japanese men supposedly go through this predicament when their libido is overstimulated!).
Actually, orders are limited to a single glass. It had better work as it costs a whopping 22 US$!
Last, but not least, as if men needed more incentive, they added a picture of a “well-endowed” man (face not shown!) wearing snake skin pants!

N.B.: A lady friend in our party told us later that there was nothing hanging on the wall inside the ladies’ facilities!

RECIPE FOR TROUBLE? SOME CARROTS SHOULD BE LEFT ALONE!

This must be my shortest recipe ever!
They ended into carottes rapees/carrot salad!
And please don’t ask me how I peeled them!

  1. LOL! I like your sense of humor my friend.

Sometimes we should look at things closer to understand what they really means. That’s sometimes very suprising, isn’t it?
