Inedible Lesser Variety!: Giant Squid

Here is the last article on this series called “The Jacques Cousteau” upon suggestion by Jaded Fork and forBread + Butter, and Elin who don’t mind being on a long haul! LOL

By “Japanese lesser” I mean species both more difficult to find on markets, more local and not as appreciated as the former five varieties.
Howeve these should looked over as they are still good enough for the finnicky Japanese and appreciated as rarities!

  1. I”m really amazed at the variety of the species. When I saw the first pic, I was like “OOOOOO…the elusive giant squid!!!!!” I remember seeing that same scientist on a discovery channel show about the giant squid.

    Thank you so much for this write out on these seafood of Japan , I dun mind on a long haul after all….lol
    Seriously ,I have never seen squid that size before. Easily 6 feet..rite? How does it taste like? same as the common type ? and it can be taken raw for sushi? So many questions :)))))
