Following a class project to create and give presentations on Japanese culture, this group of students collected data on cultural attitudes in Japan.
They decided to share their interests and findings on video with others passionate about Japan now and where its culture is heading.
Directed/produced by Richard McMahon and shot/edited by Marcus Grandon.

Strangely no one has mentioned the extremely difficult writing system 😉 (Just joking! I’m just a desperate Japanese learner…).

Actually theis was a very good joke, considering the degrading writing skills of young Japanese people!

After watching the video, I think the Japanese still likes thier cultures as it is. The survey is done with young students. Their views are young persons’ views. Just like most young persons of any nations, their views mostly against — lack of independence, legal systems etc.
I do not get the REAL change the students want for the Japanese society. I think once they are graduated and ‘into the society’ their view might changed.
I am not saying the Japanese society should stay as is. I also do not have the feelings that the Japanese students want to change much of their cultures — they do not wear the kimono, but they have them. They like caligraphy, tea ceremony, quiet beauty, traditional dances and singing.
