Vegan Bread at Tsuchikiri Bakery in Shizuoka City!

TSUCHIKIRI-2

I eat bread every morning, therefore I wish to something not only decent but very tasty for my first meal of the day!

TSUCHIKIRI-3

In Shizuoka City we are actually blessed with quite a few artisanal bakeries and Tsuchikiri Bakery is one of them, but you must be prepared to visit it at definite times as their bread will be sold out within a blink of the eye!

TSUCHIKIRI-4

Actually the bakery has moved only recently to its new address at a crossroads in Jyoto Cho, quite away from the busy Kitakaido Street!

TSUCHIKIRI-5

The place is run by ever smiling mother and daughter team who bake their bread twice a day and sell it at 10:00 and 13:30 From Tuesday to Saturday!
Since it is overwhelmingly popular customers can purchase only up 2 of each of the three kinds of bread on offer per person. As far as I know reservations are not accepted!

TSUCHIKIRI-6

Loaves on display will be cut into standard portions accordingly to order: whole. from 2 to 10 slices!

TSUCHIKIRI-7

The three types of loaves. Prices are for a standard portion!

TSUCHIKIRI-8

Raisins bread (not vegan), Plain bread (“yamagata”. Vegan!) and Three-cereal bread (Vegan!)!
Not cheap, I agree, but one of the healthiest bread in town! Industrial bread just does not compare!

TSUCHIKIRI-9

My choice of the day, which would be perfect for vegans who want their vegan bread made without eggs or dairy products: Job’s tears/Adlay (“hato mugi” in Japanese), rye and whole rice!
Moreover the yeast is natural!

TSUCHIKIRI-10

Your standard loaf one cut is packed and handed to you in a paper bag!

TSUCHIKIRI-11

Out of the bag!

TSUCHIKIRI-12

Bear in mind that such bread, being not made with eggs or dairy products, is very soft out of the oven.
I eat it the following morning plain or toasted!

TSUCHIKIRI-13

And if your standard loaf was cut first out of the main loaf you will get the yummy end as service!

Bakery Trotix in Shizuoka City!

I’m glad to say that bakeries have decidedly a bright future in Shizuoka City after I discovered another little beauty: Trotix in Kita Ando, Aoi Ku, Shizuoka City!
The simple reason of this happy state of affairs is the fact that many restaurants in the same town make good use of their creations for the best PR possible!

SN3O0536

Yoshinori Kobayashi/小林義則さん opened his cute bakery in 2009 and has achieved a great reputation for creating bread and pastries for adult taste!

SN3O0544

This was my first visit yesterday and I must admit I rue all the time lost!

SN3O0537

The main key in Trotix is not the evident great taste and beauty, but the variety and an approach to please a more adult clientele!

SN3O0543

Fruit breads!

SN3O0541

Superb croissants!

SN3O0539

White grapes, grapefruit peels and cream cheese bread and Cuin Aman (French Breton pastry)!

SN3O0540

Wiener rolls, Sweet potato and sesame bread, Melon bread, Basil & spinach bread, Cream bread, Choco Croissant, Endive and bacon tart, Bacon epi!

SN3O0542

Deep-fried curry bread, Shrimp and broccoli tartines!

SN3O0546

Classic breads and Pain de mie!

SN3O0538

Very homey atmosphere!

SN3O0545

And don’t forget the super fresh mixed sandwiches, fruit tarts and old fashion cheese cakes!

Bakery and Pastry: NICO in Shizuoka City!

Being a Frenchman and loving my bread and pastries, I’m truly blessed to be graced wit hone of the very best bakeries in the whole of Shizuoka Prefecture just a few minutes’ walk from my home!

SN3O0537

NICO was opened exactly seven years ago in Midori Cho, Aoi Ku, a bit away from the center of Shizuoka City, but people don’t mind, walking, cycling or driving there every day!

SN3O0538

Even despite the dire news of the coming typhoon today the tiny bakery was flocked with customers!

SN3O0540

Tetsuya Kosugi/小杉哲也さん is looking after the bakery itself which is pretty large behind the small shop where his mother and wife Megumi/めぐみさん are looking after the customers!
As many are housewives coming with their kids, they even provide toys for kids to play with while their mothers patiently wait for their turn!

SN3O0539

Note that the place opens as late as 11:00 am from Tuesday to Saturday, but most of the time everything will be sold by 13:00
They nonetheless accept order reservations on the phone within reasonable quantity (they do have to refuse some orders so as to provide enough for their regular customers, but that is a secret!).

SN3O0541

A lot of French (without a single mistake) is written everywhere!

SN3O0542

The “batard” baguettes on the right are a favorite of mine, but they tend to disappear quickly!

SN3O0543

The vegetables pastries and the beans and curry bread are a favorite for lunches with the nearby office workers!

SN3O0544

One can easily imagine who wants these exquisite croissants and fruit pastries!

SN3O0546

But today Dragon ordered me to bring the beans and curry bread!
The batard bread will be for the next time!

Weird Japan 39: Baked Heart!

SN3O5049

Talk of half-baked jokes!
I discovered this I went out of Okitsu Station in Shimizu, Shizuoka City!

SN3O5050

Mind it seemed to be a decent enough bakery which goes as far as announcing the baking times of its various breads and cakes!
No wonder!
They probably meant “baked with a heart”! LOL
