Shizuoka Craft Beer: Aoi Brewing-Slight Stout (July 2015 new version)

AOI BEER STAND has just started a new craft beer completely unannounced as it is a bit of a “revenge” craft beer version of a stout which never satisfied the master brewer’s exacting standards!

As it bears no special name, I called it (with Aoi Brewing’s agreement) “July 2015 New version”!

It is a brew limited to 450 liters which necessitated the help of other brewers in Shizuoka Prefecture, a true local product!
Judging from the TV coverage and incredible popularity it will soon disappear, but hopefully it will become a regular annual feature!

Shizuoka Craft Beer: Izu No Kuni Beer “Climb”

AOI BEER STAND owned by Aoi Brewery in Miyuki Cho, Aoi Ku, Shizuoka City, has the merit to offer on tap other craft beers from Shizuoka Prefecture and the rest of Japan, but you do have to hurry as they usually served only one keg before switching to another brew!

SN3O0229

This time they served a limited craft beer called “Climb” brewed by Izu no Kuni Beer Co. in Izu no Kuni City (Izu Peninsula)!

SN3O0230

Served on tap
Barley, hop, live yeast
Unfiltered
Alcohol: 4.8%
Bubbles: fine bubbles.Longish head. Creamy. White
Clarity: slightly smoky (normal considering live yeast and being unfiltered), very clean
Color: Deep lemon color
Aroma: discreet. bread
Taste: Refreshing, light and dry but soft attack.
Only a little acidity.
Bread, dark tea.
Lingers only long enough for true tasting before departing on an even drier note with more hints of dark tea.
Stays true to first impressions all the way through.

Overall: better than a thirst quencher.
Very light and refreshing. Obviously conceived as a summer craft beer.
Can be enjoyed on its own or with any food, especially light starters.
