Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 41: Burgundy Party Dress

The degree of casualness and formality varies with the parties and functions ladies have to attend.
There is always a need for a slightly more formal wear with still enough leeway to allow for practicality.
The above dress is typical of the present trend for a more formal affair in Japan.
Such dresses will usually be of one single color but bright enough in accordance with the atmosphere.
Burgundy color is a fairly safe color for any kind of party except very formal.
The light cardigan is there only to portect the shoulders and can taken off at neeed!

Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 40: Summer Work Clothes

Even Japanese ladies have to work if they want to put their hands on enough money to buy their favorite clothes!
Which consequently incites them to think about what they ought to wear on a hot day at work if they are not saddled with a uniform!

Therefore such clothes have to be practical, not too expensive and still serve at a pinch if the ladies cannot change between work and a sudden outing!

The above picture show two styles which are almost universal these days: either the thin pants, blouse and light cardigan for air-conditioned workplaces or short pants and shot-sleeved shirts for ladies moving around!

Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 38: “Chic Ethnic Style”

Very often the Japanese give names to to their shops and wares for the sole sound of it!
I noticed this somewhat strange name in a large boutique inside Shizuoka JR Station Parche Department Store!
But the garments warranted a longer look!

A typical combination to be seen this summer. Although the garments are still reasonably priced by Japanese standards, it is both quite casual and elegant for a hot summer!

Interestingly the prices were posted in English. Quite clever when you realize that Shizuoka Station is a very busy one and seeing many foreigners!
Count 80 yen for a US $ and 100 yen for 1 Euro, that is, if Greece does not leave the Eurozone!

The Japanese are increasingly becoming proud of their legs and they show them whenever possible, although this outfit would be better suited for late afternoon and evening away from the sunburns!
I find the blouse both proper and sexy, but this is a man’s opinion! LOL

Still reasonable, by Japanese standards!

Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 37: Paisley Making a Comeback this Summer!

I have always felt a speacial fondness for paisley motifs and designs as they remind me of so much: Great Britain, 19th Century fashion and drawings, and India…
Yesterday, I noticed this light one-piece ideal for the summer in a small boutique inside the Shizuoka JR Station!

Such green color is not very common in Japan but I think it should happily match the skin color of young Japanese women and ladies.
The bonus is that it very elegant, simple and so practical!

Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 36: Fashion for the Rainy Season!

The rainy season in Japan, and especially in Shizuoka, is a beast of a season when the weather and climatic situation changes from hour to hour.
When it rains it pours.
When the skies are blue the temperature soars in the middle 30’s and when it is overcast it can drop to the lat 20’s or even lower…

Not only you need an umbrella, and a large one at that when it rains, but you better keep it to protect you from the sun!

When you plan your dress for a season that can last from late May to mid June you need to become a meteorological expert!
If you are absolutely sure the day will be rainless with a cool night the above assortment could be the ideal: not too warm, not too cool, and with plenty of flowers!

Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 35: Miwako Chan at Smacky Glam in Parco Department Store! How to Combine with Scarves in the Summer!

Yesterday I had once again the pleasure to meet and talk shop with my old friend, namely Miwako Unno/海野美和子さん at a boutique called “Smacky Glam” (interesting name!) on the 2nd floor of Parco Department Store which opened in Shizuoka City 3 years ago!
Having a friend in charge of the whole boutique makes certainly easy when taking photographs as Miwako obviously enjoys posing!

Her boutique, Smacky Clam, exclusively sell their own creations.
The garments range from easy casual to young party wear with all the combinations in between.
I particularly like the way Miwako combines her own clothes (all from the smae brand) with scarves for maximum emphasis of the female body lines in a practical and easy-to wear manner.
Definitely the trend this spring and summer!

Check their HOMEPAGE for more photos!

Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 34: Casual Elegant for 3 Seasons at Floraison in Shizuoka City!

Japanese ladies have always liked plain and uniform colors, especially black, grey and beige, once they had passed to the age of adults, meaning married or career ladies.
It is not easy to embellish the female body with such requisites and it does require some talent and combinations as a single style or creator is not always the ideal solution!

Yesterday I noticed this outfit in the shop window of my good friend’s boutique, Floraison, in Shizuoka City.
I was intrigued and enquired with the staff whpo are also good friends!

The top is actually a combination of two, the first layer a top by Original and the second layer a top by MUVEIL.
Note the slight difference in color!

Note the ribbon of a different color on the second layer top. A good idea as it will conceal the bulge of an eventual bra.
The summer hat is by Athena NY.

The thin shortish lighter grey denim pants by MUVEIL nicely accentuate the line and length of the legs with a great last touch with high heeled shoes by PURA LOPEZ! The pants are typically trussed up as it is the prevalent fashion. Mind you, you can unfurl them depending on the shoes!

Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 33: Orange is the Color!

I have a special fondness for the color orange, especially the slightly dark one that we call “tango” back home in France!

It is also the color of the jerseys of my rugby team back home in Chalon sur Sai\one, Bourgogne!

I found this beautiful dress above in one of the median-priced fashion shops in Shizuoka City.
It could be worn any time of the day, although its simplicity would be striking at a party or at a dinner!

Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 32: Jeanie, Jeanie!

Some may ask why I have accepted to embark on this series of reports on local fashion…
Well. unless you are a beer-imbubibed trucker or overpierced punk (nothing against them, mind you, as they also make for great photos! LOL), one does feel the need to dress appropriately to enjoy good food, good drink and good drink!

I noticed that this year young ladies tend to incorporate some apparel made of denim or jean, an interesting notion when you realise that the material is resistant but still supple and practical, even in the worst weather or environment conditions and still easy to combine with as it is more or less of a neutral light blue usually.

Worn properly, they also tend to accentuate a slender silhouette while keeping with a muted character or easily matched with something a lot flasier or louder!

Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 31: Casual Elegant or Elegant Casual?

The long hot period streching from end of May well into October in Shizuoka allows for all kinds of both casual and elegant combinations. The predominant humidity will mean that you run a lesser risk of sunburns but the sometimes stifling atmosphere forces you into cold air-conditioned bulidings waht with shopping, eating and partying.
Therefore you do have to think a bit ahead in the morning!
Above is a typical example of what I would call “casual elegant” with the accent on “casual” thanks to the short pants.
You do have to be confident in your legs though!

here are examples of what IO would call “Elegant casual” although the pants combination might qualify for “Casual EleganT”, too!
The colors are expertly arranged and I must say it would enhance the beauty of any lady whatever the occasion while staying in very good taste!

Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 30: Formal or Casual at a Function?

Looking and following fashion for the pur fun of it is of course one thing, but the most problematic moment for a lady (and for a gentleman) is when you have to attend a function/party/business meeting and what else when you ought to be more reserved in your appearance.

The picture above was taken in a big display window mainly selling KENZO brand who also caual and semi-formal laies wear in Shizuoka City!

Notice that the colors white and black are almost universally used in such cases in Japan when it is not completely black.
Lines are sober but still elegant, although the model on the left is a bit too formal for my personal taste!

Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 29: More Scalves for the Summer!

Summer full body wrap?

Yesterday when I had to wait in a queue, and in the sun, for a seat at a popular cafe bistro in downtown Shizuoka I noticed that ladies (most of them in their 30’s and above) standing in the same queue could be divided into two distinct groups.

Scalf for a picnic?

Some ladies, obviously not very much aware of fashion had donned two or three layers of plain clothes while other ladies were wearing far lighter and more effective attire.
Among the latter quite a few were using light and airy scalves, not only to adorn themselves, but also to protect themselves effectively against the sun.

Scalves for shopping downtown?

By the same token the same scalves ensured that the ladies did not suffer from the sudden drop in temperature once inside the cafe.
As I have already mentioned the scalves are so light that there is no need to adjust or take them away, ensuring a constant image!

Japanese Ladies Fashion in Shizuoka 28: Pink Boots for The Summer?

Lady Gaga is on a grand tour of Japan and I wonder whether she is influencing some designer!

I would be hard put to name this kind of fashion, although a female friend of mine dismissed it as “for kids!”

At least, with these sturdy boots and light apparel, any girl could manage an outing in the country for a picnic!
