Food Humor: Reverse Shaving by a Kiwi Fruit?

My good friend, Bernard Heberle, who has been elected the best patissier in Shizuoka Prefecture in 2011 seems to have some time on his hands despite the mountain of work. An amateur of food humor, he regularly sends me photos featuring some pretty/nasty art on food.
I thought it would be a shame not to feature them from time to time to add a light note/seasoning to this blog!

I don’t understand why a kiwi fruit would shave starting from the back…

“Faces” of Shuzenji, Izu Peninsula

An avatar from Star Wars?

When you travel, be it in Japan or abroad, there are plenty of unusual sights to take in photo in posterity!
I found quite a few the other day in Shuzenji in the heart of Izu Penisula in Shizuoka Prefecture!

It’ s only a question to be lucky and attentive to details!LOL

A grinning lion?

A ravenous dragon?

One of the Seven Deities…

A hand-waving goblin?

Looking for more!

Food Humor: Boomerang Daikon et al!

As I going down the stairs of my apartment this morning to dispose of our rubbish I noticed our dear neighbor, Mr. Yoshizo Sugiyama, washing the daikon he had just pulled out of his big garden.
Nothing much to comment about that, except that some of the daikon were of a farout shape!

Apparently the sudden changes of temperature last summer affected the drainage forcing the daikon in “searching for water.

A “twisting ballet dancer”?

That one really tried to swim into two different directions at the same time! LOL

Looking for more!

Nothing to talk about in itself, bu the shapes of some daikon were a different matter!

Due to the great sudden changes of temperature this summer and drainage being consequently affected, the daikon had to “search” their water, hence the strange shapes!

Food Humor: Acid Milk!

A few years ago we used to see those big ads in Japan for “Homo Milk” standing for “Homogeneous Milk”. That is, until someone pointed out this might mislead some people into the wrong conclusions…

I found this truck in front of a kindergarten this morning on the way to my classroom.
After some investigation I found out (with the help of my Japanese student), that yoghurt is also called fermented milk in Japanese!
Acid Milk simply stands for Yoghurt!
Even so, it might be a good idea (but I suppose it is too late!) to think of a change of name, unless some people (again!) think of an even worse possibility! LOL

Indecent Tomato?

I’m bound to be for a lot of flak from Bazooka Gourmet with this one! LOL
Rainy Sunday today, and the Missus before going to work asked me to prepare some ratatouille for dinner.
I still needed quite a few ingredients vefore starting cooking and went to the neighbourhood supermarket.

I noticed some locally grown organic tomatoes sold in a small bunches.

They looked and felt pretty ripe (BG, keep quiet!), just perfect for the ratatouille.

When I opened the vynil bag they were wrapped in at home I discovered two “siamese twins” in a very peculiar arrangement.
I just couldn’t help taking pics before “separating” them for cooking!
I don’t really know how to call them; indecent? Sensuous? Pervert?…

I’m sur BG will come with something!

Since the Missus was down with a virus, I went for lunch at Il Cuore in Shiuzoka City.
A friend just happened to pass by when I was about to order coffee. I invited to join me and we had some fun together with Cappuccinos.
Mine (see above picture) was cute, I mus admit.
